beautifully written, intricate. Makes me want to spend more time with Hillman. And I appreciate the critique of Wilber who can always use some deflating in my opinion.

Jonathan, thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to read! Hillman is radical and his ideas are very resonant with the worldview of Chinese medical thinking. What Hillman presents has definite value for medical practitioners, and acupuncture especially resonates as a form of "archetypal medicine". So I hope you will spend some time with him! The Myth of Analysis is a good overview, but it is also represents an earlier phase in his thinking and is rather technical; Re-Visioning Psychology is one of the best starting points; The Soul's Code is his most popular and accessible work. He had a prolific output, so there's enough to keep you busy for a long time.

I'm also glad you didn't find my Wilber critique too harsh. I've appreciated Wilber over the years, but there are limitations that need to be pointed out if we are going to enter a deeper understanding.
